Fanya is a very special kitty! She came to us when a concerned individual found her, emaciated and weak, "bumping" into the side of his house as she tried to walk. It turns out that Fanya is blind, and somehow ended up on the streets, with no way to get food and water, and unable to hunt due to her blindness. She lives at the clinic, and has figured out how to navigate the building very well. Many clients, upon meeting her, are surprised to learn she is blind. You'd never guess it when you watch her playing with her mouse toy or walking across the counter to meet our next appointment!
Hi, I'm Karen. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from St. Cloud State University, and have several years of experience in corporate finance. Since 2004, my role here as manager at Baldwin Vet has allowed me to utilize my financial experience while working in a more relaxed, animal-friendly enviroment - which I just love. While growing up on a dairy farm in central Minnesota, I made pets of every kind of critter that came along. As a long-time supporter of animal causes, I have over 18 years of experience in various volunteer roles for animal welfare organizations and animal shelters. I share my home with three rescued dogs - Jaz, a retriever mix; Buster, a beagle; and River, a springer mix, and of course, various foster cats I take care of while they wait to find good homes.
Hi, I'm Tara. I was born and raised here in Baldwin. WI. Here at the Baldwin Vet Center I work as a vet assistant. I really enjoy helping the vets out during appointments, surgeries, and farm calls. In addition to working here at the vet clinic, I just graduated from UW-River Falls with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science Pre-Vet with an emphasis in meat animals. My goal is to graduate from the U of M as both a large and small animal veterinarian. I have 4 rescued cats, Da Vinci, Tikki, Arial & Izzy, and 1 handsome Percheron gelding, Sampson. (The horse in the picture with me is not Sampson but Jimmer, a horse from Refuge Farms.) All 4 of my cats started out as foster animals that I found I just couldn't part with. I still do fostering for PAWS and will occasionally foster a litter of kittens that need to be bottle fed.
Hi, I'm Elsie and I work as much as my busy high school schedule will allow! I complete daily chores and also assist with some reception work here at Baldwin Veterinary Center. In addition, I participate in soccer, tennis, marching band, and choir at Baldwin Woodville High School and I just recently graduated in May 2012. I enjoy working here as it gives me more experience around animals and improves my communication skills with humans as well. I will begin my first year at UW-River Falls in the fall of 2012 and will major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and will go on to Vet School afterwards. Not including the rest of my family's animals, I personally own two cats, August and Bruno, and a horse named Tristen.
